Dance Movie Outing this Monday! Royal Ballet’s Alice in Wonderland at Esplanade Theatre

We’re hitting the big screen this Monday February 2nd at 6:00pm, to check out the Royal Ballet’s Alice in Wonderland! A twist on the classic tale, Royal Ballet’s version features a tap-dancing Mad Hatter and a White Rabbit with grand battements out of this world! “This ballet is above all a brilliant realization of Carroll’s zany dream-world featuring stunning choreography, a colourful score and ingenious stage-magic.” More info here http://www.landmarkcinemas.com/north-vancouver-esplanade/film-info?film=1968 A rare treat to see the ballet taped live from the Covent Gardens stage of the Royal Opera House. We need a few parent volunteers to drive to and from the cinema (Esplanade Theatre, 200 West Esplanade in North Vancouver). If you are able to do so, please let the office know. Students who have class Monday night will be excused from class early if they wish to attend the screening. |

CANADIAN SOCIETY FOR DANCE STUDIES CELEBRATES ANNA WYMAN AND PAULA ROSS WITH TRIBUTE LUNCHEON!

Every year, the Canadian Society for Dance Studies pays tribute to significant contributors to dance and dance education and research.On July 3rd, 2014, THE SOCIETY HELD A TRIBUTE LUNCHEON TO HONOUR THE CONTRIBUTION THAT ANNA WYMAN AND PAULA ROSS HAVE MADE TO DANCE IN CANADA AND IN VANCOUVER, SPECIFICALLY.
Kaiji Pepper, editor of Dance International Magazine, Jay Hirabayashi, co-founder of Kokoro Dance, and Katherine Somody, marketing manager at Anna Wyman School of Dance Arts, spoke to Anna Wyman’s achievements and the impact that Ms. Wyman has had on our local and national dance community.
It was a truly lovely affair, and we were all humbled and honoured by the outpouring of fond memories and accolades that were spoken.

Join the fantastically fiery Antonia Nowtash as she teaches you all the moves to the beat of the music -- salsa, merengue, cumbia, pop, bollywood, soca, tango, flamenco, rock&roll, and more -- no dance experience necessary! Show off your salsa shimmies and help your partner master (or cutely fumble through) the Bollywood bhangra bounce. Get fit, have fun, and get to know each other a little better with each cha-cha-cha. Single? Grab a girlfriend and celebrate your fabulous selves!
After an hour of Zumba, enjoy some wine, fruit and cheese (would it be a proper date night without it?) and watch the sunset from the studio as the music continues.
